Deteriorating landscapes gave Sagar Gupta Naugriya the idea to design Thermal Corona Combat drone

While everybody sat in their homes to avoid the spread of Coronavirus, Sagar Gupta Naugriya decided to design a drone that would help in fighting this pandemic. In an exclusive interview with QNAIndia.com, the Founder and CEO of Indian Robotics Solution Pvt Ltd throws light on how he came up with the idea of designing a Thermal Corona combat drone that would not only reduce the risk but test the prospective cases.
Please tell us something about your background?
Sagar Gupta Naugriya: I am the Founder and CEO of Indian Robotics Solution Pvt Ltd, which is a part of Indian Robo Store group. I have done my Bachelors in Electronics and Communication Engineering from ITM Universe, Gwalior in 2015. My interest lies in Robotics and Electronic gadgets and since my initial years, I had an entrepreneurial bent of mind.
From where did you get the idea of making this Thermal Corona combat drone?
Sagar Gupta Naugriya: The idea clicked us while we were observing the deteriorating landscape across the world. The outbreak of COVID-19 in India was getting serious. Within few days many areas were declared as red zones and in that case assistance was required for the higher authorities. To reduce the risk and simultaneously test the prospective cases, which might be prevailing in multifloor residential apartments, we developed TCCD. After discussing with our team we decided to call people in their respective balconies through a loudspeaker and take their body temperature through thermal camera. Besides, we planned to add medicine box to deliver appropriate medicines, a day vision camera with spotlight for night operation and a sanitizing tank.
Additionally we have been providing thermal drone to Indian Army for night surveillance from the last 3 years and services to some of corporate sector like solar power plant and power transmission line for survey.
How many hours will the drone work after it’s fully charged. Are you working any further to increase the capacity of the drone too?
Sagar Gupta Naugriya: The fully charged drone can easily fly upto 30-35 minutes when we are simultaneously using thermal camera and loudspeaker.
If we use the same drone for sanitizing then flight time will reduce to about 15 min due to the additional payload of 5L sanitizer. We can modify it up to 20-25L for sanitizing purpose and for thermal we are working to deploy day and thermal camera on a small UAV so that it could be helpful in small streets also.
If the approval comes for your product from the government, how many drones can you manufacture and supply?
Sagar Gupta Naugriya: In case of any opportunity from government’s end, we can easily scale-up this model. As per current sources and man power we can design up to 70-75 drone in a month.
Has the company taken any funding to make this product? Or is there any planning?
Sagar Gupta Naugriya: No, as of now we haven’t taken any funding. But now we are planning to involve investors in our business so that we could start a more modified R & D which could probably design multiple innovations in Robotics industry.
Are you planning to invent more products to help India fight COVID-19?
Sagar Gupta Naugriya: Yes, we are planning for one more product to fight against COVID-19, based on image processing with thermal and day vision camera. This will help to identify the temperature of mob in single frame, in crowded area like hospitals, fruit and vegetable mandis, slums etc.
