Shuchita Vyas is an Indian playback singer and performer. Excerpt from an interaction with Shuchita Vyas.

What have been the high points in your career?

Shuchita Vyas: Every day when I achieve something, I feel high. Starting from the school days whenever I got good grades I felt like on top of the world.  But seriously speaking when my dad took the decision of moving to Mumbai from MP’s small town Guna, it was a big thing for me that we are shifting to Mumbai. Later when I participated in TV Shows and won prizes it gave me much needed encouragement and motivation. Recently I produced, sang and wrote lyrics for a movie and I’m really waiting for that song to come. Whenever, it will come it will be a special day for me.

Do you idolise any woman?

Shuchita Vyas: Every person who gave me something new to learn, I really admire them. I really admire housewives the most because they work without any pay; they work out of love, out of devotion for family. Others, I really admire Lata Mangeshkar, Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani and Sushmita Sen for the decisions they have taken in their lives.

Do you feel it’s difficult to keep our culture alive in modern era?

Shuchita Vyas: Yes, it is very difficult to keep our culture alive, especially when we are into bollywood. Industry is running towards the western culture. Being in the music industry, when we go for shows everybody wants singers or actresses to wear western dresses. So while working in this industry it is tough to keep culture alive but if you have family values with you, if you have been brought up in a family where you have always been taught about the Indian cultural values than you can surely keep it alive.

One thing that you want to change about womanism?

Shuchita Vyas: Womanism is now just a term for everyone as everybody wants to talk about it but nobody wants to solve any problem. Women are a weaker section of society and to give them equality we need to take so many steps to empower them.

What is your message for the young women?

Shuchita Vyas: If you want to achieve anything in your life, believe in yourself, believe your dreams. You have everything that can make you achieve your dreams only you need to be confident and just give your dreams wings and you will fly.

Please share one such story which you think has brought changes in your life

Shuchita Vyas: I would like to share one incident with you, one of my friends (singer) went to Arab country for a show and she met with an accident over there and never returned. In just one day, everything was finished. That time I couldn’t handle myself. Then I realized its life we can’t do everything.  You cannot plan anything; everything is in gods hand actually. So now I live in the moment, I just want to be happy and make people happy and that’s my only mantra in life.
