Too much of anything is bad: Dr Aarti Dahiya on giving freedom to children

We have often heard that with great power comes great responsibility. Today, let’s take it this way: With great freedom also comes a sense of responsibility. This is what kids generally forget when they are granted with freedom.
This Independence day, we at QNA thought of discussing how “independence/freedom for kids is good or bad”. To clear the air and answer the questions, here is none other than Dr Aarti Dahiya.
Apart from being a vastu consultant and Astrologer, Dr Aarti is also a relationship counsellor and psychic healer.
How does freedom helps in a person’s life?
Dr. Aarti Dahiya: Freedom is very essential if one aspires to grow. In a caged or limited environment, one can never experience happiness and growth in their life.
Should kids be given full freedom for their life?
Dr. Aarti Dahiya: I wouldn’t say full freedom because too much of anything is bad. But yes, I believe if we want our kids to grow, their should be some freedom for them to make decisions.
What are the good effects of granting freedom to a kid?
Dr. Aarti Dahiya: Freedom if given and used in a right way would show amazing results. Freedom would make a person responsible, serious towards life goals, and much more.
What are the personity changes one experiences when they experience freedom or independence?
Dr. Aarti Dahiya: On being granted freedom and independence, a person not only makes realistic goals but also starts taking his/her life goals seriously. Also, a person starts understanding the difference between good or bad.
One thing which I understand is that with freedom also comes great amount of self control.
What about the negative impacts of freedom?
Dr. Aarti Dahiya: As I said, extreme of anything is bad. Therefore if a kid experiences extreme independence, they are likely to go wrong.
The sense of feedom would make a person over liberal, open for bad influence and choices. Also, in majority of cases we have witnessed that with the sense of freedom, kids start misbehaving and disrespecting elders.
