Parinaz, who now runs a full-fledged Instagram page – thebombaybloggerofficial – used to work as a social media manager for a friend’s page. It was when she quit her job in 2018, she became a full-time blogger and social media influencer.

In a conversation with QNA, the blogger puts forward her views on frequency of the posts, what she thinks about blogging as a source of income, her views on collaborations, and much more:

How did blogging come into the picture? Was it a thoughtful choice?

Parinaz: Honestly, becoming a blogger was never planned. When I was really young I started interning as a social media manager for a friend’s page and had to deal with a lot of influencers and bloggers. That is when the idea to become one of them slowly erupted and in no time, ‘Thebombayblogger’ was born! It was definitely a thoughtful choice. I gave it a lot of thinking and took some experts’ advice too!

Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?

Parinaz: It is my profession and along with that, I am a brand manager for a few start-ups as well.

What is your content frequency? And how important is to create regular content?

Parinaz: Initially, I would go crazy in uploading content that even I`d put up 5 to 6 pictures in just a single day. But then slowly, I realised and learned that one must only post maximum 1 or 2 pictures per day and at particular timings that work for them. Frequency of content is of utmost importance to me, but at times if the content is not edited well, I`d prefer to go live once I know that my edits are bang on. I would not post just for the sake of it or because another blogger is doing the same campaign and their post is up in no time.

Do you collaborate with brands/products for promotional activities?

Parinaz: Yes, I do. However, I indulge in such things only after reviewing their guidelines, the whole idea of them promoting their product/service. More than that, if the brand resonates with my personal choice and personality or not is also an important factor for me while considering collaborations. I would never endorse something I have not tried or would not use.

It’s been 2 years now, what is one thing that you know now and you wish you should have known when in the initial years of blogging career?

Parinaz: It has actually been 3 for me ever since TBB was born, but I would say I only started taking myself seriously in October 2018, after quitting my job. I wish I knew how the industry worked, how to create content, do meaningful collaborations, negotiate payments and almost everything that now I am more confident about!

A lot of people think that influencer blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are interested in making money from the blog?

Parinaz: Well, I must say that influencer blogging is not really an easy way. There is a lot of efforts we and our teams put in for that 1 perfect picture that everyone sees on social media/ our blogs. Content writing takes ages and script after script can even get rejected! One can definitely earn money, slowly, but a lot of dedication and passion is needed for that! I would say that please do not start a blog or a page just because you want freebies or fame. Do it if this is something you love, are passionate about or something that matches your personality. Always be yourself and never ever make the mistake of copying somebody else. Be UNIQUE. Be YOU.
